Father's Day

We love to go exploring. So for Father's Day Chris took us to Santa Theresa Regional Park. Even though it is just 10 minutes away we had never been there. We saw a lot of turkeys and deer. We also found the Santa Theresa spring which has a lot of history behind it. The story of how the spring oringinated is pretty interesting. The local Ohlone indians were mysteriously dying and getting sick; possibly from painting their bodies with red cinnabar which contains mercury. After feeling they had failed the Great Spirit Chief Umunhum had his people gather around their meeting place and look to the skies for help. Umunhum shot and arrow with a feather tied to it up into the sky as a last desparate attempt. A woman then appeared in flowing black robes and with her silver cross she touched a rock. Water gushed from the rock and the woman motioned to the Ohlone to bathe and drink from the spring. Soon all their sick were cured. It is sill there now just forming a little pool. It is also supposedly haunted by a ghost of a little girl named Dottie.

For dinner we went to the Jasmine restaurant in Los Gatos. Very good food. But the waitress must have been having a bad day, I couldn't believe it when she grabbed the menu from me, besides that she was just plain rude. Chris has been going there since he was a kid and it has always been good, so we are going to let this time pass.
